Can fall from height fatalities be avoided?
Health and Safety reports are showing an average of 5 deaths every year, however how many of these deaths are avoidable?
We had a look at The National Access & Scaffolding Confederation , The NASC is a union of scaffolders within the UK, this industry represents among the highest at risk from accidents from falls from height, yet their track record showed some interesting results, looking at their figures throughout the years they have reported and maintained a 0% death rate and less than 200 health and safety incidents per year for the last 3 years with a workforce base of over 10,000 operatives! full organization health and safety report.
I wanted to find out more about how they managed to establish this trend and it appears that their group is founded on extensive training in health and safety, this extends to training and recognition on appropriate tools for the job in question.
If you are interested in obtaining information on NASC training documentation, watch the following video.
Or visit their site health and safety publications.
