Lifeline systems are a reasonable solutions to protect workers when a passive system is unsuitable. Lifeline systems connect their worker to a wire, rope or rail through some sort of shock absorbing lanyard or self-retracting device. Life line systems can be used to restrain workers from reaching a fall hazard, this type of system is referred to as Fall Restraint.
